All yarns in our website are to be treated unless two types of goods, ecocashemere 4/13 and Angora. They must be worked by hand. This is specified in goods’ descripion area.
We buy stocks of yarns from great knitting factories that use yarns to process them in order to work better in machine. They procee then doing the treatment on the shirts once they have been made and sewn.
The treatment of the yarns is the following: the first wash must be by washing machine while the following washes must be handwash.
(Washing machine)washing procedure is the regular one: you do the first wash with some detergent for delicate garments for 7 minutes after wich it is always rinsed for 7 minutes and finally the centrifuge at 400 or 600 rpm maximum.
Washing or treatment or fulling can be done in two ways. The first is that
used by most people which consists of making a sample of 10cm by 10cm or 20cm by 20cm.
Of course, the larger the sample, the easier it is to wash the sample in the washing machine with the above procedure. In
this way you can see the yield in the hand and you can see if the yarn is worked slow enough or enough
tight and from here you can make adjustments, after which, once the work is finished, the washing of the
garment with the same method and in which we washed the sample.
The second method is to make the skeins. You make skeins of maximum 100 grams with 5/6
8-shaped or double 8-shaped ligatures, that is with the ligature thread that
it goes in it goes out it goes back in and then it does the round again in the shape of an 8 or double 8. If you are not very experienced, pay attention because the skein can melt inside the washing machine and then it would get tangled
all the wire and becomes unusable. I recommend, the first times for those who have never done it, to use old yarns, of little value that are no longer needed or things you have at home to try to make skeins and wash them.
The washing is done with the method above always and you wash directly the skein then you can work and does not need further washing in the washing machine. Once the garment is finished, it is worked and washed by hand.
If you have time I suggest you to do the first type of washing because by making the sample, by washing it first, you can check the yield and, if necessary, modify it by working it narrower or slower to obtain then, with the washing, more hair or less hair.
If you want to save time you can make the skeins and wash them so when you get to do the job will be easier and faster
